I have been trying for sometime to figure out how to make ID3V1 tags from the music keg display on my head unit. I have kenwood music keg attached to a kenwood DDX8017 through a Kenwood switch. The switch is set to "N". The headunit recognizes the HDD and everything plays fine, however I get no tag information to display? I have tried the display options for playlist, track, file etc but nothing displays. I do get the playlist number and the track sequence number but no artist, album, song, etc?

Any clues form others who may have experienced anything similar?

You have to change the firmware options on the DMS using the Phatnoise software.  Go to hardware options/firmware setup/properties/list title text, or something like that.  There are four options, and the software defaults to the first, which just displays the playlist and track numbers.  Set the value to display "Disc Text," and you will be able to see playlist names and track info according to how you set up the head unit display settings in your playlist options.
