Thanks to this site I have a 160GB DMS Seagate DMS.
It is totally functional in my older XP setup but not recognized in
my newer setup under Vista X64. I eventually plan to get rid of my XP setup since I don't
have room for two PCs, therefore need to get it working in Vista.

Under Vista, when it is plug into the USB port it appears in the USB utility as a
single usb storage. Under My Computer or the Disk Management utility it does not
appear. What's up?

Please advise me on a fix.
thanks in advance

If you are using a USB 1.1 cradle, it's not going to work with Vista x64.  The USB 2.0 cradle can also be finicky.  I think particularly the fact that you are using x64 is problematic, as it works reasonably well on Vista x32.

Sam is right, the easiest fix is to install Windows XP.  You can easily run a dual-boot XP/Vista configuration to avoid a lot of the hassles caused by Vista.

Thanks for the replies,

I think i will install vista 32 and see if all is well. My cradle is a USB 2.0.
