Hey Paul,
all works fine from my point of view. What about this:

I think it would be helpful if we have some sort of a moderated FAQ-thread collecting all facts we already know or at least think we do...

This way newbies could get all knowledge from one place rather than searching all threads without knowing what to look for anyway.

This thread (maybe with even one big posting only) should be kept clean and structured by someone. It could be extended as soons as new knowledge reaches the surface. Of course the optimum would a  real Wiki! It could feature these parts for example:

- Boot process (first boot -> linux)
- Files (possible purposes, not linux but PB specific)
- Directory structure (not linux but PB specific)
- Recommended tools
- Recommended websites
- tbc.

Regards

Although I've never set it up myself I suggest the following:

Project:
http://wikipedia.sourceforge.net/

Download:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wikipedia/mediawiki-1.3.11.tar.gz?download

Admin docs:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Documentation:_Administrator%27s_Guide

And I as well have set up Wikipedia, and find it  a joy to use.  It's a great way of getting down a lot of good data in a small amount of time.

And, if I do say so myself,  Embarrassed there's been a bit more data lately out there, and hopefully this will be the perfect opportunity to get one started.

Altough I have no capability to host one, I'd be happy to set up /administer / manage one elsewhere.

It really is on the list of things to accomplish soon.  It's already installed, I just have to set it up.  Hopefully I'll get to it in the next few weekends.

Any progress?  Anything we can do to help?

I went ahead and threw up http://wiki.phathack.com on my server -- we can always change if we need to... I didn't set much up except for putting the logo on it...

LOL, I didn't even realize that... btw creation of new pages is merely done by accesing a nonexistant page as a logged in user, which I'm about to put on the main page heh

Hi guys,
is it still neccesary to maintain the "FAQ & Answers" section as we do have all these things in the Wiki right now? IMHO this means redundant maintenance...

By the way, what about the "soldiers of the past"? Looking at the "Hall of Fame" I surely miss Paul and Para Cheesy We've both contributed quite some time and sweat - one hosting/managing this board, the other trying to housekeep the FAQ and coding Phat4X.

Bye, Para

Damn, just 4 weeks of absence and the whole world changed! Congrats and respect to all involved!

I've added Phat4X/Para (and myself and judb for the boot CD) to the Wiki HoF.
