I'm still a little unsure as to what gonna go on? So let's say I've got a brand new 100gb DMS with nothing on it yet and I hit the SYNC button right off the bat without making any playlists or anything? I kinda understand that its goin g to make the DMS look just like PMM see's things.

I think you're correct, although I've never had the guts to click it myself to find out.  I think it's used mostly to update dynamic playlists on the DMS. Maybe someone else can shed more light?

That's exactly what it will do.  It will copy all the music in your PMM library over - and all of your playlists as well.

I don't understand the question.  Whatever playlists you have in your PMM library (on your PC) - you'll get those playlists on your DMS that can be browsed in "Playlist Mode."

Ohh, OK. I just didn't see that you could make a playlist in PMM. I've never wanted/needed to make playlists in PMM. What about if you don't/didn't make playlists?

Then all sync would do is copy over all your music.

I have lots of playlists - playlists for different moods - different tempos of music.  Playlist's that Daphne likes - playlists that mix together my favorite live versions of songs....etc.

You should give them a try!

Is there a way for this to work in reverse? I had PMM find all my music and then copied it over to the DMS using the wizard creating the playlists on the fly.  I've done a bit of editing of those lists and would like to have those lists now show up in PMM, as PMM currently only lists all the files and has no playlists.

I believe there is a "one way" sync option - look closely at the sync menu in PMM and you should find what you're looking for.

Hmmm.  I think I either misunderstand the point of the post, or maybe I'm using PMM incorrectly.  I thought the only way to get music on the DMS was to create playlists containing the music you wanted, then sync them over to the DMS.  Is there another method for getting music over there?

For instance, if I want 20 particular artists on my Phatbox, I would make a couple of dynamic playlists by artist in PMM, include the 20 artists I want, then sync them over to the DMS.  Is there a better way to get those 20 artists onto the DMS?

No.  There's not a "better" way.  There's another way.

You can select "Sync" and have EVERYTHING in your PMM library (on your PC) copied to your DMS.  You will only be able to access/browse this music if you have VIOT/SSA however.  That's why everything on my DMS has a playlist anyway, and I do it the way you mentioned above.
