I keep getting this error message when I attempt to connect my dms to my xp machine:

"The voice prompt system is not installed To purchase or learn more, visit....". I installed pmm1.87 from disc, then upgraded to 2.3. I also downloaded and installed speech.msi. No amount of uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it. I think the OS thinks that I didnt originally install from disc, (maybe because I installed speech.msi).

it works fine on my win2k box (but that one doesnt have usb2...

phatnoise support has been no help.

any ideas?

sounds like windows speech support on your computer is jacked up.

try downloading the microsoft speech SDK and instaling it first...

I'm looking here:

http://www.microsoft.com/speech/download/sdk51/

do I need to download the full 68MB file (5 hours on my dial-up!), or would the redistributable package work?

did you use nLite or something to remove components from XP before or after installation?  Sounds like either a registry problem or that some key component of windows has been uninstalled / removed from the system.

I'd be willing to bet that you removed something required for the Speech Engine to function properly, but I don't know what all is required.  Sorry dude.
