I would love to use my Audi Phatbox with an Alpine head unit so I can ditch the horrid Concert unit.

I know there are after-market adapters available to use an Alpine changer with an Audi head-unit, but do any of you rekon these would work "reversed"? All these adapters do is convert the bus language, so I presume it would work?

Any thoughts/ideas?

my understanding is that alpine does not publish the specs openly for the ai-net interface.  phatnoise would have to reverse engineer that interface to create the headunit firmware.

Being that they appear to not be making any new product announcements / major updates to the phatbox and are working on other projects I think this is highly unlikley.

We need to see if we can get a copy of the AI Net specs and kidnap a phatnoise engineer. Smiley

The adapter I was looking at was for the old M-BUS protocol, but the head unit im looking at is compatible with both AI-NET and the older M-BUS.

Isn't M-Bus the protocol that BMW uses?
