THIS IS THEIR SIGNING UTILITY...  Grin

http://phatbox.sixpak.org/phatlin/sign

- - - - -   Shocked

OK, given that fact... are we realistically looking at 2 different types of .sig file(s)

1.  System files
2.  Playlist files

Now, if we're only looking at a single type of .sig file, anything basically "signed" with the plsign utility as found on sixpak stands a real good chance of working

ouch, they use a server instead of even making the utility available to their own people?  I guess that makes it a bit harder for somebody to 'leak' the private key Sad

That would be the best solution to this whole problem Wink

did you see this thread ...

where Ryan Mc.. (PhatNoise)  is telling para to email "crypt" to get new signed rc.sh files...?

http://www.phatnoise.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3022

I've requested a new .sig file (I sent one to Brendan just in case) to help him out, you never know

But what kind of rc.sh did you send him? How does it differ from the original?

Hopefully Brendan doesn't judge my request as related to a DMS hack - as it isn't...

Para

PS: @Andy: what about posting their signing script? I think this is copyrighted material and therefor shouldn't be posted here. Only telling where (http://unix.phatnoise.com/bootcd.iso) to find it would be better/sufficient, don't you think?

Para,

Their signing script IS AVAILABLE over the internet in an uncrypted format... you just have to know where to go look for it...  I didn't post a link CAUSE it might get someone into trouble (not a good thing)

That's it Wink Even if something copyrighted is publicly available you're not allowed to use (i.e. post) it without the authors permission. Posting a link to its origin (in this case a deliberately published file) shouldn't cause anyone problems. Anyway, just my opinion...

Sorry, I don't get you Cool What did you send him or what amendments have you made that he should sign for you? I mean you're not talking about the ext3 feature, are you?

I'd suggest to put this link into your first posting (instead of the code).

Thanks for responding, however, you shouldn't be surprised that everyone isn't using unix/linux.  I was able to find some good sites for bash on the internet so I will try to edumacate myself... Grin

Sorry, no offense Wink If you've got questions just ask but it's going to be hard without some Linux knowledge - depends on our findings...

@Andy: do you see other ways of getting a second HDD connected and mounted than modifying rc.sh? Maybe you should open a thread for this approach... Personally I don't think that many users would throw a spare hdd into their trunk (or glovebox) or is there enough space in the PB casing? Did you order some interfacing cables to at least physically connect the drive to the PB?
