How do I use IRC?

Often times, if you're working through a problem step by step - the message board is not the most effective method of communication.  Did you know that there is a phathack chatroom where you can go to find real-time support and advice?

But, you may say, what is the IRC?  And how do I use it?

Step 1: Download an IRC client.   (mIRC is a pretty easy one to use. http://www.mirc.com/get.html)

Step 2: Install that client and fill in your user information.

Step 3: Either connect to "Random Freenode Server" (which you can find in the drop down list) or enter in the server information: irc.freenode.net.  

Step 4: Once connected to the server, type in "/join #phathack" (without the quotes) and you're in!
