what do I do if I screwed up my DMS?

02 vw passat with premium 6(i think)
phat box came from a jetta.
head unit says no cd
box says blink blink blinkity blinkity blinkity and then stops

I did the update and everything, followed the instructions and still does nada.
 

somewhere in all of this, I cut all of the files of the drive via windows and tried to clean it that way and start from new.
that obviously was the wrong thing.

So what do I do? can I copy someone elses files on to mine?

Did you repartition it, or just format it?

Have you applied the hack to your PhatBox yet?

I don't think I repartioned it, I think I formatted the partions that were there. I copied the files that were in there to my desk top, I tried to put them back after other things not working but it did not work.

And no I don't think  I did the hack, just updated the firmware

yes, the computer showed it was on there but it would not recognize it in the car, just said no cd

I expect you need to teformat PHTSYS and put the files on in the right order.  You can just format it then use the "new firmware" option in the Hack Tools to do that (not New DMS, although that SHOULD be ok as well... but don't do it)
