KHD-CX910 repair
« on: February 05, 2009, 01:29:37 am »
I'm having a hard time finding a repair facility to fix my 910, or a service manual. I put this question out to the more knowlegable, If I get a Phatnoise phatbox from say an Audi (same connector), I'm assuming the
guts are the same in the 2 boxes, the firmware on the DMS tells the box what it's configuration is

Question is can I replace the 910 with the Phatbox unit, and the same hacks apply?

Thanks
Steve

Yes.  You can change the firmware on an Audi/VW Phatbox to Kenwood, and it will work the same as your 910.  Obviously, you would have to apply the hack to the new box, but the same hack works on all boxes.

Before giving up on the 910, keep in mind some minor issues can be sorted out by disconnecting and reconnecting the keg/box.

I haven't seen a service manual posted anywhere, but there is some basic hardware info here:  http://wiki.phathack.com/Hardware_FAQ

If Sam (sbingner) is reading the boards, I think he has cracked open a phatbox or two.  Maybe he has a schematic or something useful for a technician.

Thanks for the info Mark, this just gives me another option for a replacement.

My 910 has worked well daisy chained with my 902 sirius receiver through a 210 switch
to a KDC-X990 head unit, but the other day nothing was working untill I unplugged the 910 keg.

I'm thinking that one of the jumpers on the keg board performs a "master" reset,
so I'm going to give that a try today

Again thanks for the info
