So, when I boot off the v1.3 hack CD and put the DMS in the cradle, I only get one green line:

"usb 3-2 new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2"

Nothing else!

I tried in 2 different computers, and different USB ports. the 3-2 changed to 3-1, and 2-1.. and sometimes the address # changed, but nothing else happened.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've seen references that the USB 1.1 cradle does not work with the hack disc.  Are you using a 2.0 or 1.1 cradle?  If all you have is the 1.1 cradle then you probably want to use the manual method: http://wiki.phathack.com/Script_to_run_firmware_patch

Disclaimer:  I'm still a noob in this forum.  Try some searches if you want to verify my recommendation.

It seems that the 1.1 cradle does not work on the new hack disc although the drivers should be there.

We could try building another kernel and releasing another version of the CD but I am not sure if it will fix this issue at the expense of another one. :(

I'd be more than happy to beta-test, if needed.. Just let me know!

If anyone wants to play around with the kernel on the hack disc, the config file I used is at:

http://never.net/phatbox/config-phathack

With the 2.6.11.12 kernel (as on kernel.org, unpatched).

Thanks Rob, This helped alot! I think 2.6.11 dosen't have the isd 200 driver it doesn't show it in your config file. Under kernel 2.6.12-8 its listed under usb support. Im going to spit out a new kernel and hopefully it won't break anything.

if you send me the kernel image I'll update the CD / floppy images with it..

I'm a n00b, but one problem I had was with my USB mouse & keyboard.  When I would boot to the CD and insert my DMS, I'd get the proper USB messages, but could go no further.  I noticed that my keyboard stopped responding (no light toggle when I would press NUMLOCK or CAPSLOCK), so on a whim I unplugged my USB mouse & keyboard and booted again.  I was able to get to the next step.  (though I still haven't been able to complete the hack)

I have not been able to get a USB keyboard to work.  I can leave it plugged in but I had to plug in a PS/2 keyboard to type.

Im working on a new kernel, but I dont think there will be enough room for usb keyboard support also. I finally got the isd 200 driver compiled into it but Im going to have to slim it down alittle. I'll play with it tonight anfter work and see how space the keyboard driver takes.

just a quick update while compiling. I have the new kernel almost finished Im working on usb keyboard support if I can sqeek it in I'll be happy with it :) Hopefully I will be able to send it to judb tonight for beta test and final approval .

update.update LOL I think talking to myself is getting to me.

Sorry guys it looks like usb keyboard support will have to wait it requires modules and there is no space unless we goto cd only.

Judb I emailed you a kernel to try out let me know how it workz thnks

Kernel works with 2.0 cradle too..

Posting updated 1.4 image shortly. :)
