Hello again Everyone,  :)

I just picked up a Phatbox that had VW firmware installed.
I used DMS Tools to change the firmware to Kenwood 13.1
checked the install non-hacked firmware
checked reflash box with firmware

The green light on the Phatbox is rapidly blinking so I think that's a good thing. I return to the car 30 minutes later and still blinking very rapidly.
I've disconnected the Phatbox cable, reset the Kenwood HU (Kenwood KVT-617DVD) and switched it to the CD Changer, put the DMS back into the Phatbox and it all starts up again with the rapid green light and I return 30 minutes later and still the same..

Can some please please help me figure this out?

My DMS Hack failed :(
The site gives an internal server error and I cannot post.

If it's still blinking rapidly, it's still updating the firmware!  Patience is the key! ;)

And what do you mean by 'The site gives an internal server error and I cannot post'?

Hello VorTechS,

Weird ghost in machine.
Today I attempted to start from the beginning with a fresh formatted DMS.
Placed it in the keg and returned 1hr later to see green light still flashing. Let it continue flashing and returned another 1hr later and still flashing. Again returned another 1hr later and this time car battery dead.

I than placed the DMS on USB cradle and DMS Tools sees it as :
Current Firmware: N/A

I am at a lost here...

VorTechS

Okay, now that's odd!  Perhaps it's worth stepping back a bit.  Is there actually any reason you are updating the firmare?

I was updating the firmware cause DMS that came with that Phatbox had VW firmware, and I knew I needed to change it for it to work with my Kenwood HU.
When trying to upload my log this is my error on the browser:

If your Keg already has 13.01 firmware installed on it, then you don't to check the option 'Reflash box'.

I think it has been argued before that even if it doesn't have 13.01 firmware on, there isn't a necessity to reflash it if you put the 13.01 files on the DMS.
If you look on PHTSYS, remove the files 'forceupdate' and 'forcesettings', and let's see what the box does from there.

Hello All,

Got the VW Phatbox firmware changed to Kenwood. The unit is now hacked too!
Was able to achieve this by reformatting the DMS and applying the hack afterwards.

Thanks again for the responses and support.
