SourceForge project just got approved.  I have uploaded PhatNoise's release of the linux kernel and the beginnings of a replacement for 51d

http://sf.net/projects/phatos

Hopefully we'll have a kernel with support for LBA48 soon.  On a side note, I took a couple mins and removed the signature checking from phatd earlier today.... going to test it out and make sure it's all good... this removes the requirement of a signature on playlists, so would negate the requirement of signing playlists generated by Phat4X

If anybody wants to try that, let me know and I'll send you the binary patch for phatd

I MIGHT have a kernel with LBA48 support --- of course it may have some other problem, but if anybody wants to try it out....

I don't really want to update the project CVS until I have it tested on something besides my box at the moment.... I took a patch that was supposed to be for 2.4.9 and integrated it, not to mention the fact that I don't have a >120GB drive to test it on either

I have a 200 gig drive I can hook up to it and test out I think.  It will take some rigging to bypass the drive switch but I can test it this weekend.

We'll also have to update the boot cd because I think we left lba48 support out as far as I remember.

I've started getting the IPC communication between phatd and 51d documented, to integrate into the replacement 51d

see http://wiki.phathack.com/IPC_(phatd-51d)_protocol"

Sadly, I was mistaken about the larger than 127 gig drive.  I'm going to go buy a new drive shortly and use that.  Has anyone else tested out the new kernel?

Also, who's game for helping out with replacing phatd / 51d?
