Drive size... data reported from hdparm
« on: April 04, 2005, 12:27:24 am »
Hey fellas..

I am looking at the numbers that hdparm / fdisk give me back under linux and this 10 gig drive reports the LBA mode in one and some other mode in another.

http://www3.toshiba.co.jp/storage/english/spec/hdd/mk1017.htm

says
16,383 cylinders
16 heads
63 Sectors per Track
19,640,880 total sectors

but fdisk shows
9590 Cylinders
64 heads
32 sectors per track
19,640,880 total sectors.

Anyone know which one is right?
I did a quick search and didnt see anything.

I would expect that hdparm is right, and fdisk is doing LBA conversion....
