Your car is pretty old, the Toyota phatbox probably (most likely) would not work. Easiest option would be to get a Kenwood FM modulator (I have an extra for sale if your interested).

Nice looking car :) But its now how old it looks, its how old it is.
I highly doubt that phatbox is supporting Toyota stock stereos that are 12 years old.

I think you have 2 options for getting a phatbox in your toyota.

1) Kenwood FM Modulator (I was going to use this in my 2006 Mazda 3 before I got the phatbox working with the stock stereo)
2) Kenwood Head Unit (This is what I did in my Saturn VUE)

That will work fine, you just need to change the firmware on the VW phatbox to the Kenwood firmware.  You also need a Kenwood keg cable.
Kenwood DNX7200/Kenwood KHD-C710 Keg/320GB DMS

Good choice (going with the Kenwood Head unit).

I also have a Kenwood->phatbox cable that I am willing to sell. Let me know if you want it.
