phatbox with rcd 300 vw golf 5

my head unit rcd 300 is not detected with the phatbox!...

Not 100% sure of what a rcd 300 is, but, if you mean golf Mk5 when you say golf 5 . As far as I know the PB is not compatible with the Mk 5 V-Dubs - thats why VW is blowing them ( PB's ) out - Hope this helps - If I've totallly misunderstood your Q - ooops! my bad.

Hi guys - I'm also a newbie to the forum - but with (some) experience of Phatbox cabling to VW / Audi headunits.

I can confirm that the Phatbox IS compatible with the newer VW RCD300 headunit, but requires specific cabling - the std changer cable cannot be used (pre-installed or otherwise). You need to use a) the std. Phatbox to VW changer cable adapter, e.g. 26 pin to 12 pin MOLEX changer plug, b) an older VW changer cable, 12 pin MOLEX to 8 pin mini-iso, and c) an additional adapter at the headunit end, to convert the mini-iso fitting to the newer Quadlock fitting used on recent VW / Audi HU's.

Not sure if this is allowed (?) - but I can supply all cable parts. Contact via pm.

I have the Phatnoise working with my RCD300 in my MKV GTI

The parts that were used were 1J0051592A which was the cd changer cable from my mkiv
and adapter 1J0051445D

I have also updated the Hardisk to 60Gb with the hacked firmware, all working very well
