I have some tracks encoded to AAC 329 bit rate they don't seem to play I have Phatnoise media manager plus the AAC plug-in, they play OK on the computer but says corrupt track when in the car,  has anyone got around this or a solution, Thanks

329, interesting.  Mine are encoded at VBR and play fine.*

*Play fine except for the frequent other issues related with my AAC usage.

What encoders are you guys using?  I know for instance that there were some issues with the nero aac encoder not working right with ipods at one point.

The Nero encoder doesn't work with the Phatbox at all (or in my case, the Keg.)  It will transfer the songs, but you'll get the lovely "corrupt" track message when trying to play them.

I use the Apple (iTunes) AAC encoder.

Thanks so what bitrate do you encode to with itunes will it take the best quality?

Thanks

The bitrate choices in Phatnoise Media Manager (PMM) are 96, 128, 192, & 296.  I am currently using 192 since it is supposed to be better than CD Quality (120 bitrate).  Howver, I am using the MusicKeg through an FM Modulator in my Honda, so I don't believe I could experience the quality of the 296 bitrate.

QuoteI am currently using 192 since it is supposed to be better than CD Quality (120 bitrate).
Sorry but that is untrue.  Not that CD quality is perfect, but when you use any lossy encoder to compress the music (such as MP3, AAC, Ogg, etc), you lose quality no matter what bitrate you use.  The lower the bitrate, the more you lose.  Thus, it's impossible to be "better than CD quality".  At high bitrates, the compressed quality can be very good or perhaps even undistinguishable from the original, but never "better".

I have encode mine at 160 using itunes due to the fact I only have 20GB disk otherwise I would encode at a higher rate of 192.

hade the same problem and had to re encode with Itunes at 329 it then will work
