Is Phatnoise still being supported with updates?
« on: October 08, 2006, 04:29:31 am »
Are they expecting to have  any advances in its hardware or software? I know before the take over from HK, Phatnoise was updating its firmware and software, are they currently working on anything new, or is this Phatbox heading to a dead end?

Phatnoise hasn't released any major updates to their firmware as far as I know in almost 2 years for the phatbox.  The phatbox 2 was developed and being sold to GM but as far as I know thats the only place it was going to be sold since they didn't have any aftermarket partners anymore.

Kenwood seemed to be more interested in the ACDrive method and dropped the external box so I doubt we'll see anything from them either.

In short, no i don't think they'll be doing much at all with it.

So basically the Phatbox is going to eventually be dead? I don't think a lot of people are ordering GM cars with the Phatnoise Media Player in it. I wish they would open it up for us to play around with!

Has anyone tried contacting them to see if they would give the source code?
I know it's unlikely, shame really as it would help us and them.
