Title: Phatbox on a BMW (1999 m3)
Post by: black99m3 on July 01, 2005, 10:37:38 pm
I currently have a "PhatNoise Car Audio System" on my 1999 m3. It is interfaced using the BlitzSafe converter through my existing CD changer wiring.

My question is... Currently I am not able to see a text display of what is playing through my factory BMW stereo deck. Are there any aftermarket decks that will allow me to see a text readout of what is playing?

Thank you

sure, any kenwood deck ;)

I have the pinouts you need to make your own cable at http://www.phathack.com/pinouts.html or you can order one from phatnoise

Do any other brand decks (besides Kenwood) show the text display of the song that is playing?

I am thinking about the Kenwood EZ-500:

But I want to make sure that I will see the title and artist of the song that is currently playing.

I currently have the BlitzSafe adapter which attaches to my CD changer wiring. Will I need a new cable or will the BlitzSafe adapter and existing BMW wiring allow me to see text display from the PhatNoise audio system.

I'm sure they do, but the kenwood is the best supported by the phatbox as far as I know... all kenwood decks being sold now will work... as I said in my last post, you need a new kenwood cable.

sbinger,

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it. Do you know if I can just buy the Kenwood cable somewhere?

If I cant buy it, do you know anyone who will make it for me?

Thanks!
