Moderator - This question is in the wrong section.  It should be in the Phatnoise Hardware Support section.

You are going from a VW to a VW, so there is no need to change the firmware, but you should update to the latest VW firmware if you have not already.  Not sure if there are any issues specific to that VW nav unit.

Sorry for using the wrong forum :-\
The unit won't be fitted till next week.
Are there any things I should be aware of when fitting.
should the DMS been in when first powering up ?

a) DMS Dr. should be put up against a wall and shot.  Preferrably from close range, with a bazooka, or tank.

b) Check your cabling, if necessary disconnect the Phatbox and reconnect at the Phatbox end.  Some headunits after firmware upgrades sometimes require this (I had it with my Kenwood Keg).  You might also need to check the internal ribbon cable in case that has come loose.

c) Make sure you are pushing the DMS into the Phatbox firmly.  Newer cases seem to require a bit more effort to push into the box (and get out!)

I think it maybe a firmware issue,

I'm not around until next week, looking after the wife after having suffered at the hands of real doctors giving birth to our second.

But you might catch Sbingner lurking....

That's a first, not seen grounding as being an issue before - but nice find.  One that can be added to the list - although cabling does generally encapsulate that.
