Title: I need a HDD diagnostic for a Toshiba hard drive?
Post by: todd1010 on February 20, 2007, 07:04:48 PM
I think I have something wrong with my 2.5" Toshiba hard drive. I went to Toshiba's website but they only have 3rd party software and the one they recommend you'd need a floppy drive and I don't have one on my laptop.

you MIGHT be able to use VMWare to do it.  take the floppy disk they let you download and make it into an img file using WinImage and then load it as a boot floppy in vmware and attach that Toshiba Drive to your box (you'll likely have to make it an IDE connection instead of a USB connection for it to work regardless but I dont know that for sure)  then put that drive into the VMWare resource pool.

Alternately you could burn the floppy image as the bootable image part of a bootable CDROM -- it would show up just like a floppy once you booted off the cdrom
