Title: Recommended replacement drives?
Post by: danix on October 16, 2007, 01:20:03 AM
I began the process of hacking my phatbox so I could use a drive I had replaced out of my Macbook (80Gb SATA) only to realize that, duh, the phatbox drive is not SATA.

Before I go out and spend money, is there a short list of known good and/or recommended drives to use in the phatbox?
I have searched the wiki and forums and didn't see anything like this.

Thanks!

Just so my thread is not totally useless, I was thinking of this one (120Gb for $76):

there are actually a number of similar posts... but the gist is that it doesn't matter.  If you get a toshiba drive, it might fit more neatly in the case but otherwise just go for lowest rpm possible

danix:  The 120G Toshiba you link to is cheaper at Newegg:

$70 + $5.29 s/h = 75.29.
(compared to $76.90 + $8 s/h = 85 at Mwave)
