Post by: nextel773 on February 06, 2008, 12:10:44 AM
hello,  i have a kenwood keg910 model.  i been having a problem,  when i try to run my keg on my computer,  it freezes.  i tried to contact phatnoise but havent gotten a response.  i have about 18 gigs of music i would like to save it if possible.   from what i can tell the drivers do not load up.  i tried different computers and its the same deal...  a few times i was able to get 1 driver but that's as far as i got.  pls help. thank you

Firstly, can you give us a little bit more info, namely:

Which version of Windows are you running?
Do you have the USB1.1 cradle?  (Look under the bottom of the cradle, and there's a sticker that says KHD-USB1)

thank you.  hello

i have windows xp pro an vista bus 32bit,  2 computers.  kinda working good with vista, has error pop up when ejecting. but that an other issue.

i have both usb 1 and usb 2 cradle. they both work i tested them with my other 20gig.

at first only 1 driver would show up, and i would have access to the my music files. but  now non. as soon as i  plug the dms in to any computer,  computer will freeze up.  as soon as i unplug dms both drivers show up for brief sec.    do you know any repair center i can send this out too!

i have contacted phatnoise and have not received a respond.

If you have one drive that works and the other causes the computer to hang, my guess would be that the non-working drive is dead, and probably beyond repair.  Most likely, you will not be able to save the data on the drive, unless you take it to a data recovery specialist, which will cost $$$$.  Don't you have backups of your music?

You should switch to using the working drive, and as soon as possible you should hack your Keg so you can easily replace any drive that fails.

It's also possible something in the IDE adapter is amiss.  Before ditching the drive, if you do have one working and one not, try putting the non-working drive in the working drive's DMS case to eliminate a hardware issue.
