Title: PB hack for Porsche?
Post by: crunch13 on August 29, 2005, 03:33:06 PM
I just got an Audi PB via ebay for $150, now I am totally hooked. I am dying to install one in the OTHER car, but it is a Porsche and the PN site sells them for $799. It just kills me to pay that kind of money, given my Audi deal.

The HU is a Becker, IIRC the 6CD changer is a Sony (or modified Sony?)... is there a way to use a VW/Audi (or other) unit and mod it?

What would be my next cheapest option (Kenwood HU + Keg)?  I love the SSA and would want the Porsche PB to behave more-or-less the same as the "stock " Audi unit.....

TIA

I believe you will have to either purchase a Porsche specific Phatbox or a kenwood HU, you can then purchase a kenwood head unit to Phatnoise cable separately and use the phatbox you have purchased in your porsche.

So to recap:

1) Go and buy a kenwood head unit
2) Buy the kenwood head unit to phatbox cable from me (as i have one for sale in the classifieds) or purchase one online or elsewhere
3) Rejoice, you will now have a working phatbox in your Porsche

Buy a generic phatbox on ebay, then order the porsche cable from phatnoise and then post the cable pinout on this site.
