Firstly, thanx oh thanx to all who toiled to make the hack work, it's the best!!!
I put a new Hitachi 80 gb drive in, following the instructions. The only small problem is that on most startups in the car, the phatbox (Kenwood krc headend) will try to get back the last track played, seems to stall, then says eject...after about 1-2 mins, it kicks in and starts to play where it last played!
So, wondering if I just should try a new phatbox firmware? Or live with the minor problem...
Post the upgrade, I just loaded new songs/songlists.
Thanx again!!!
helpful info would be,
what type of phatbox are you using? What is the current firmware you are using .. etc
Kenwood KHD-CX910 MusicKeg, that's my phatbox, and I forgot to check the fw. I'm in, car's out, will post tomorrow...thanx, sorry for wasting time.
ok, fw:
Properties for the in-car hardware
Author: Ryan Moriyama
Version: 13.01
so, any further thoughts? has anyone had problems w/new fw and hack'd drives?
reformatting the phtsys partition (make sure its fat32!!!) would be a good place to start. Do that, reload the firmware, remove the forceupdate and forcesettings files if they exist before sticking the drive back in the keg.
the other thing to do would be to make sure you are using the 3.51 version of PMM and have it recreate the databases on the drive.. its in the options someplace. that should clean up any potential software issues. The next thing to check would be if that new drive has some issues..
seems better now, don't have the eject message anymore...but, call me crazy, now it won't play aac/mp4 files, says the plugin is missing. I tried reloading, it says it's there and I see it when I look at phtsys/plugins/aac. One thing I do notice, I saved the original phtsys files, and there is a inst.sig that isn't on the new phtsys.
What's next, oh great ones? I did redo the phtys as you told me to do...
do you have a hacked version addac if not thats why the aac will not play back.
no, not hacked, paid for it! worked fine before i did any of the upgrade...
You have to have the hacked addac + the aac plugin that you paid for. the stock addac will only play aac on the original drive not the new drive thats why you have to use the hacked addac.
thanx, where shall I find the adacc? is that a stupid question
wiki.phathack.com has a link to it if i recall correctly
You will have to setup a compile enviroment to compile a new addac. Sorry no one will dist this file you have to make it on your own. After this your aac will work because I had to do this to mine to get the aac plugin to work BTW I paid for mine too :)
Ok, linux isn't my 2nd language yet, will try...don't even have a dedicated machine for it, will my trusty knoppix cd/dvd do the trick?
doubtful, you need to compile for the ARM as your target platform. I doubt they put that software on the DVD image.
suffering from linux newbieitis...please tell me what distro you recommend, and then can you instruct on how to run this aadec script? and of course i will be still grateful.
btw, the only thing i'm currently missing is the ability to play aac, standard mp3 is perfect.
thanx!
