I had posted this thread at the wrong forum.......and moved it here.
===================================================================================
I bought an Audi A6 model 2000. It has an Audi radio headunit, I believe it is possible to connect a Audi CD changer to the unit. However I would like to know if it is possible to connect the Kenwood (original) Musickeg to the Audi headunit.
My Questions: Is this possible?
Do I need to patch the Musickeg?
Do I need a special connector?
Where can I find more info?
I have search this forum but only found Audi PB related threads.
Thanks!
Eddy
There is a post about that very thing here (it is later on in the post)

you will need the Audi Cables which are still for sale here or you can make your own cable outlined in my response in the above thread

The firmware is updated through PMM & thread about it here

As far as the headunit compatibility you need to know the model type & check it on this guide

Great information!
I probable will go for the direct method.
This is what I should do, pls correct me if I'm wrong.
1) Cut the Kenwood cable at the head end.
2) Solder a new connector 12 pin (need to see if I can get this from the Audi dealer).
3) Patch MusicKeg with Audi firmware.
Eddy
1) No that will not work you would have to cut both ends off the keg cable
The Kenwood cable uses different pins on the 26 pin connector connected to the phatbox.
The box is virtually the same just different firmware & pins used on the 26 pin connector for different headunits.
2) If you don't have an Audi cd cable already in place you do not need the round plug. You only need Female pins with wires that plug in the back of the radio
If you already have an Audi cd cable in place just cut the round plug off & attach a 26 pin Phatnoise plug on the end
If you read my posts in the following thread again I list the part numbers needed and the options in more detail.

3) Yes
if you want to mail me your Kenwood cable, I'll mail you an Audi cable ;)
I will keep the Kenwood cable because I still have a Kenwood HU in my other car. Anyway thanks for the offer. I haven,t explore yet the cables and connectors in my Audi but will do this soon. Maybe when needed you could sell me yours if you don't need it anymore.
Thanks,
Eddy
I have ordered the two parts at RS in the country where I live but converted to dollars this is about 32 USD, isn't that a bit to much for a simple plug?
Part No 299-4597 Connector,rectangular,solder plug,26 way
448-4531 Connector,rectangular,plastic,screw lock,backshell,26 way
Now I still need the connector for the other side. From where can I get this connector or do I need to buy the Jumper cable?
Jumper is Part No.: 000-051-592-A
Sale Price: $ 45.35
It is getting more expensive than the purchase of MusicKeg.
ps I have a cd changer in my audi and a Concert I type N headunit.

Yep that is why I posted
Quoteas I never used them after working out the price of components I bought a cable instead

Don't know of a supplier but if you want to make your own cable as I suggested cut the end off the Audi cd cable & attach this plug.
Or from my previous post on the above link
QuoteIf you already have a factory fitted Audi CD changer cable installed in your car all you need is one of these:-
This is a replacement jumper cable that connects the Phatnoise box to the cd-changer cable in the rear. CHOOSE THE CABLE TYPE REQUIRED FROM THE DROP DOWN OPTIONS MENU.
Part No.: 000-051-592-A
Sale Price: $ 45.35
This is for an Audi round plug cd changer cable & from http://www.clairparts.com/ take away the "A" from the part number if you need a rectangular plug that is used on some Audis (glovebox changers usually).
If you have an Audi CD cable installed this is all you need just straight plug & play (+ firmware).
Make sure you get the right end plug to connect to your cable round/rectangular if you buy off this forum.
I might be able to cancel the order. The jumper cable; I found on Ebay for 20USD. However shipping to the UAE cost about 98USD. I also noticed a shipping charge of 16USD but I'm not sure if this is what they will charge me. Isn't another way to do this?

I believe this is the one, see url.
Shall I order from here?
I don't have to much expierence with Ebay.

Eddy,
You can trust this seller. I bought from him and he ships worldwide.
Just to let you know that I received the cable from Pugi after 22 days (UAE) I have installed it and it works great!
Some questions:
1)When I switch the radio off a message appears like TIM 2H what is that?
2) Is there a manual how I should use the buttons (Concert I, N type)?
3) The female voice is gentle but the previous digital generated voice by PMM isn't, is there an alternative?
Again thanks everybody for the support!
