So, I've used Music Manager for over a year. I recently downloaded the latest MEDIA Manager software. Finally, some sync options that work! However, here's a major thing I used all the time that is no longer present.
The ability to right click on a playlist and select "Rename songs in playlist". With MEDIA, it only works on the PLAYLIST itself, not the songs in the playlist.
I've called and left a message with phatnoise - is this some feature that only works if I pony up the $15 for the registered version?

Hi - I never used that feature - maybe I should have. And no, it does not seem to be present if you have paid for the upgrade.
You can alter the tag (song name) in my free version of media manager version 3.76
1 Right click on the song title you want to change
2 In the drop down menu click on 'edit file tag'
3 In the box that appears highlight the tag (song title) you want to change type a new name or alter from the drop down menu then click apply.
No no no, I don't want to alter the tag, I just want to change the way it's displayed on the head unit. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
1. With Music Manager, this works:

This is especially nice if you want to have $title$-$artist$-$album$-$genre$-$year$-$comments$ or whatever displayed in certain playlists where you have all that information stored in the id3 tag.
2. With MEDIA Manager, this right click option is not available:

Sure, you can go to Playlist. properties and manually select the display options of the ENTIRE playlist, but here's 2 things about that:
It's not as handy, and more importantly, if you have decent sized playlists that lack the extended id3 information, you'll get this on the head unit: ???-$artist$-???-$genre$-???-??? and the like....
So I take it you do not want to "Rename songs in playlist" as per your original post ?
I just use the playlist properties as you have suggested and then use 'edit patterns' to create my own new pattern that suits the id3 information in that particular playlist
Wasn't there a feature in the 2.x version of PMM that allowed you to create a playlist that was based on more regular expression style stuff like: Artist starts with "A" or something like that? Seems to me the newer PMM releases have pretty crappy options for dynamic playlists.

You're right; I misspoke in my original post. I want to be able to quickly change how they're displayed on the head unit "on the fly", not renaming anything.
