Title: Hacking a GM Mobile Media vehicle?
Post by: sage710 on April 23, 2010, 05:15:38 am
Has anyone else hacked a GM Mobile Media vehicle? I have a 2006 Saturn Relay. I was able to re-install the firmware onto my DMS via the Phathack DMS tools and I have loaded some music on the DMS via Phatnoise Media Manager v3.92. However, when I put the DMS into the vehicle all I get displayed is "System Loading" for at least 30 minutes. That is the longest I've tried waiting to see if anything happens.

I'm ready to try PhatHack Media Manager but I would like to know if anyone else has hacked the DMS via DMS tools and then gotten the system to work in their vehicle.

Thanks,
Ian

No-one has ever been able to get hold of GM box to compare it against a standard box to determine what implications, if any, the hack could have on the operation of the unit and usage of the DMS.  Therefore the hack is not considered to be compatible with GM units.

What is it you are trying to do here... have you had a problem with the DMS that you have not been able to rectify?

About a year ago my vehicle stopped recognizing my DMS cartridge. I would just see 'Initializing" on the display and I could hear the system spinning the HD but nothing else. I stumbled onto this forum and was able to repair and repartition my DMS. Since then when I've put the DMS into my vehicle all I've gotten was 'System Loading'. I've let it run for 30 minutes, figure if it hasn't started by that time then it won't.

I know the DMS works, I've loaded and played music from it. I'm thinking that the firmware on the box in the vehicle is not up to date. I'm going to go back to DMS tools v2.13 and try "Reflash the box" option.
