Title: FARK!  PMM reinstall, can't activate?!
Post by: Genesis on January 07, 2007, 02:47:01 am
I was forced to reinstall my machine and loaded PMM.

It demands activation over the Internet, which fails - it appears that Phatnoise's web site is all screwed; their knowledge base won't display articles (just the index) and they have a message up saying they won't respond to email inquiries due to some "problem."

So how do I get PMM back on my machine?  Or is it a lost cause?

The link in the previous thread about the new version is also not working.

Is there a hack to get around the online reg requirement?

I've posted the solution to a similar (or maybe the same) problem before:

Open regedit

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > PhatNoise, Inc. > PMM

Look for a key labeled Reg_Status.

If this key is not present, on the right side of the screen, right-click anywhere in the white area and select new>DWORD value. Name the key Reg_Status.

Right-click Reg_Status and select Modify. Change the Value data to "2" (no quotes). Press "Ok". You should now be able to run the PMM.

I just ran into a problem with PMM not registering so I took this info that Mark posted and made a FAQ entry on the wiki..
