Direct writing the DMS via IDE cable
« on: April 27, 2007, 01:06:25 am »
Hello,

I didn't find anything ab. this via search. So here's my question:

Is it possible to attach the (hacked) DMS directly via an IDE cable, so that it is mounted as a normal HDD (knowing that I would have to dissamble the DMS each time)?

This would save me a lot of time copying the music (for the first time) since I have only the USB1.1 cradle.

Thanks!

Yes you can.  There are Laptop Drive --> IDE cable converters out there if you want to connect it via a PCI slot, but I believe you can probably get an external USB 2.0 enclosure too

Unless you get one of the USB enclosures you won't be able to hotplug it either... eitherwise you can get the normal IDE<->laptop drive converter for like $5
