confirmation please - need working DMS to migrate to new HD?
« on: April 29, 2007, 08:53:52 pm »
great forum !  ;D

newbie question... can someone confirm one needs a working DMS to get to the state where one can use an OEM hard drive?

My 20GB DMS hard disk failed (no play in car / won't spin up in the cradle for windows or linux :( ), so I am stuck in the state of a factory/un-hacked phatbox with a 60 GB hard disk in the DMS shell that shows up on the pc fine (with the 2 formatted partitions), but doesn't play in the car.

Any suggestions?  ???

thanks guru's... regards, brad

Yep, you need a good DMS to hack the box the easy way.

Or, i hear you can install a serial port on the box, and patch it that way.  If you're handy with a soldering iron.

Your simplest method will be to get somebody with a valid DMS to apply the hack for you...  but otherwise if you do attach a serial cable I'll package up a flasher for you...
