Starting from scratch...
« on: November 05, 2007, 09:32:26 pm »
I'd need some help.   :-\

I took my head unit and keg(910) out of my car when moved overseas and they were sitting in a paper bag for three years. Now I decided to install them in my car, but as I can see things have changed since.

What I have:
-new computer
-new car
-a kenwood CD PMM 2.20
- head unit+keg(10GB) that works on my bench with VIOT

I would like to change the HDD to larger one and keep the VIOT (I couldn't find any registration email from phatnoise)
What would you recommend to do and in what order?
Should I install the PMM 2.20 from the original disc then hack the HDD then upgrade to the newest media manager?
Or go straight to the new media manager then hack the HDD?

Cheers,
-Z.

Hack your CX910 using your original DMS, then upgrade your HDD... all the other stuff you asked makes no difference

Well except you won't be able to activate VIOT using when you create a new DMS - but if you use the new hack tools to create a new DMS you can get round that.

Also PhatNoise Music/Media Manager won't activate, and the only way to get round that is find the 'doesn't require activation version'.

You know what, sod it, I'll stick it up on PhatNoise.org - if PhatNoise/Harman can't be arsed to answer my mails we'll see how long it is (if at all) before they object to the availability of downloads.

Unfortunately VIOT is a must. Without it I might just throw away the whole thing.

As I said use the new tools to create a new DMS after hacking, choose the Kenwood firmware and you can install VIOT at the same time.

You might need to find an older version of PMM in order to use your DMS for the first time (I think 2.30 should be okay, but there's been rumours of using older than that) but then from there you should be able to use any version of PMM.

You can download the non-activation versions of PMM from phatnoise.org (membership required)
