Almost there but need help finishing hack . . .
« on: August 15, 2007, 06:48:29 pm »
Thanks again for all the help folks have offered me.

So I tried to hack my PhatBox.

The hack seemed to run fine on the computer, but then when I placed the DMS cartridge into the PhatBox and ran the car stereo, instead of silence, as expected from the instructions:

"
At this point, your stereo should act as if your PhatBox is playing music, although you shouldn't hear any sound. This is normal. Leave the system on until you hear the "hack complete" announcement, or 5-10 minutes elapse without the announcement.
"

what I got instead was the same voice prompt saying "plugin error" over and over 1,000 times.  This is the same thing that was happening before I did the hack.  I let this go on for 10 minutes just to be sure, then I went back to the computer and ran patchclean.bat.  I then checked the log directory, there is no patchverify.log file and the patch.log file says that every patch failed:

The bootlog files says everything booted fine.

Should I:

(1) Run DMSHack.bat again
(2) Try to put the DMS cartridge back in the stereo again
(3) Something else?

Thanks for any suggestions

Don't run DMSClean just yet.  Try running the hack a second time, that is to say - re-insert the DMS into the PhatBox and start your head unit and switch the source to the PhatBox.

It has been known to take more than one attempt to run the hack successfully.

You may also need to try corrupting the RAMDisk file - check out other posts here for that if a 2nd or 3rd time running the hack doesn't work.
