Music Manager for Vista?
« on: November 18, 2007, 06:20:49 pm »
I just got a new computer that had Vista and I went to load the cd with the music manager that I got with my music keg and it says that it won't work on any platform other then the 5 or 6 that were listed.  Anybody know how to get it to work on Vista?  I was under the impression that newer OS systems should be able to use programs designed for older systems, it just wouldn't work the other way round.  I would appreciate any and all help.  Thanks.

Best way: uninstall Vista, install XP

Have you tried this? I have Vista but I haven't loaded anything on the DMS in a long, long time. But I'm sure I eventually get around to playing with it.

"We apologize for the wait for Windows Vista support! There is a work around for the PhatNoise Media Manager to work with Vista. Please follow the instructions below.

If you have the original CD that came with your PhatNoise or Kenwood system, install it first. If the CD version is already installed, DO NOT uninstall it.

If you do not have version 3.92 of the PhatNoise Media Manager currently installed, download and install the latest Media Manager at the link below by filling out the form and clicking "Download Now". You will receive a link via email. Be sure to check your spam filter for the email. If you do not receive the link, use an alternate email address.

Once the PhatNoise Media Manager 3.92 is installed, follow the instructions below:

1. Right-click on the PMM icon on the desktop and select "Properties"
2. Click the "Shortcut" tab
3. Click "Advanced" button
4. Check the "run as administrator" box
5. Click "OK".    "

::)   it took them months to come up with this and send it to me..... lol

I have been trying to install Media Manager on my new Vista machine, and when I go to this link http://www.phatnoise.com/downloads/download_pmmsw.aspx, it brings up the form to fill out, but then there is no submit button.  I look at the source code of the page, and it appears that the submit button is commented out on the page...  Is this a problem with the Phatnoise site, or my new Vista machine?

Thanks...

The last version of Media Manager can be downloaded here:  http://www.phatnoise.com/downloads/PMM_3.92_WWW.exe

In addition to whatever tricks you might have to perform to get it working on Vista, on the first run you may also have to perform a registry trick to override Phatnoise's non-working registration procedure.  Details here:  http://forum.phathack.com/index.php/topic,548.msg3702.html#msg3702
