These things have been in the works for months and months, they always are.. so I think perhaps this may have something to do with the kenwood keg 2.0 never coming out.

That's an interesting thought. Once Kenwood backed away from the Keg 2, it was never clear why Phatnoise didn't push the product to the open market. This could go a long way to explaining why they would sit on such a juicy product.
