PHTSYS partition could not be mounted issue
« on: December 24, 2006, 04:51:31 am »
Hopefully someone could help me out.

I'm getting this error message after getting to the point where I install the new DMS drive to be setup, "The PHTSYS partition could not be mounted.  Reboot..."

I get the disk mount problem at the part where the new drive is partitioned/formatted and the old PHTSYS data is copied to the new drive.  I've tried different computers, different disk drives and they all fail at this point.  My original DMS works fine and the patch was applied to my Music Keg without issue.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Just use the advanced repair function and do a quick repair, then load the firmware on the drive from PMM and (optionally) remove forceupdate and forcesettings

Thanks for the reply.

I did the quick repair option then attempted to load the firmware onto the drive with PMM.  PMM does not detect any firmware to load onto the drive.  I attempted to have it connect to the server to dowload/load firware onto the new drive but it does not work.  Also, when I did the quick repair, it repartitioned both partitions but only formated the PHTSYS partition.  The PHTDTA partition was created but not formatted.  So, I formatted it to fat32 in windows.

Any more suggestions?  Any idea as to why this keeps failing?

Just get the firmware for your HU manually if PMM is broken again and extract your firmware to the PHTSYS partition.   Make sure you label the one you formatted FAT32 as PHTDTA.  You may still optionally delete forceupdate and forcesettings

Firmware can be manually downloaded from http://downloads.phathack.com/firmware

Thanks for all the help.  I am still having problems getting the boot disk to properly partition/format any drive that I attempt to use.  I have two brand new 100gig and 1 40gig laptop drives and they both format in windows but error out when attempting to use the boot disk to create the partition/format the disk.
