Need Some Help Here
« on: January 12, 2007, 05:41:54 am »
It took me awhile to hack my phatnoise box (KDH-CX910)but I finally got it done and it worked great the key word is worked. I also hacked my older Phatnoise Box (the 710 model), And that works great too. But now there is a problem with the 910 box and I cant figure it out.

The 910 was some times not be read in the radio when I would start my vechile and all I had to do was turn it off and back on again and it would reconize it, which is really no probally but I just put some more music on the hard drive and whe i plugged it in it didnt reconize the keg so i turned the vechile off and turned it on again and it stiil wouldnt reconize.

So I reset the radio and when it reads it say's DISC-CH then goes to AUX MODE and before when it worked it would say CD-CH then play the music.

So I tried the 710 in its place and that one worked fine.

So that tells me that something is wrong with the 910 phat box.

Can any one help me with this matter  :'( ??????

Are you using the same DMS cartridge in the 710 that you were using in the 910?

It sounds like it might just be worth opening up the 910 to check the internal cables.

OK - back to basics....  :)

Since both units appear to have the same problem this does suggest some issue with the connections, or the cable, or the head unit.

Are there any lights on the keg at any time?  Either with ignition on or off, or radio on or off, DMS in or out?  Can you tell whether the hard drive in the DMS is spinning up?  It will be very quiet, but should be possible to hear if you don't have the engine running.

When you say you checked the connections, you mean plugged / unplugged?  At both ends (HU and keg)?

I dont think its the cable I tried another cable and it did the same thing,  plus it reads it as disc-ch (when it was working it read it as cd-ch). So it is reading something.

And the hard drive is spining.

And as far as the lights go when the ignition is on or off the red stay's on and the green flashes in momentary flashes.

But now here is something really crazy....

The 710 works when  use the original hard drive but not the new larger one(but it did before). But the 910 wont work with either hard drive.

PLEASE and I meen PRETTY PLEASE can some gudie me in the direrection I need to go ?????????

it sounds like the hack did not complete fully on your 710 unit.  you'll need to try the hack again with a corrupted ramdisk.sig file I'd guess.
