After a suggestion from judb regarding the new replacement DMS tools I am working on, I've taken that idea, and a whole host of others my brain suddenly thought about as a result, and now the DMS Hack Tool has a DMS Backup facility!
It looks a lot like this:
and generates files like this:
Where:
.ddb = Drive Signature - dd.exe backup as performed by the hack wizard
.dsb = System Files - ZIP file containing all the files in the root of PHTSYS
.dpb = Plugins - ZIP file of the PHTSYS/Plugins folder and sub-directories
.dtb = TTS Files - ZIP file containing all files in the root of PHTSYS/TTS
The reason for having those extension names as opposed to .ZIP files is so that I can write [in fact will be getting right on it] a restore tool that is able to distinguish between the backup sections and allow you to restore them individually.
Immediate advantages of this tool are:
Repair an original DMS that's somehow gotten itself re-partitioned.
Transfer plugins from your original DMS to a new DMS.
Backup of original TTS files before using PhatHack Media Manager to re-create them.
Ease of use!
Alpha testers will be getting this in the next day or so.
Beta testers will be getting this when the above have sanctioned the tools for use.
