One original DMS and two PhatBox units
« on: September 10, 2007, 05:43:35 pm »
How can I use one original DMS to hack two PhatBox units and make two new big DMS cartridges?

P.S. units are one for Audi and one for VW.

Read, read, and re-read the sticky hacking posts on this forum. They tell you exactly how this can be done.

I already did it :)
Ok, I can rephrase : Which of following ways is correct?

1: a) Apply patch to original DMS; b) Hack first Phatbox; c) create first new DMS;
     d) Apply patch to original DMS; e) Hack second Phatbox; f) create second new DMS.
or
2: a) Apply patch to original DMS; b) Hack first Phatbox; c) create first new DMS;
    d) Hack second Phatbox; e) create second new DMS.

Hi,

You can separate the Hack and the DMS creation.

So this will work,

1: a) Apply patch to original DMS; b) Hack first Phatbox; c) create first new DMS;
     d) Apply patch to original DMS; e) Hack second Phatbox; f) create second new DMS.

But so will this

3: a) Apply patch to original DMS; b) Hack first Phatbox;
    c) create first new DMS; d) create second new DMS;
    e) Apply patch to original DMS; f) Hack second Phatbox;

or this

4: a) Apply patch to original DMS; b) Hack first Phatbox;
    c) Apply patch to original DMS; c) Hack second Phatbox;
    e) create first new DMS; f) create second new DMS, etc

In the early days of this forum, a new DMS had to be partly copied from an original but that has not been needed for some time.  The new hack tools allow a DMS to be created which will work in a hacked box without the need for the original DMS.  The original DMS is still needed for the box hacking part though.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks a lot :)

Now  I'm ready to do all this things, but still waiting for DMS parts and HDDs :)

You missed option 5:

5: a) Apply patch to original DMS;
    b) Hack first Phatbox;
    c) Hack second Phatbox;
    d) create first new DMS;
    e) create second new DMS, etc

A DMS with patches loaded on it will try to patch any box it boots... so you don't really have to do anything to it between boxes...

OK - so long since I did it - couldn't remember...
