Is there a list anywhere of compatible drives?
« on: November 12, 2008, 05:04:43 pm »
I want to swap out the 20GB drive in my DMS for an 80GB drive but I'm not sure what to buy.
I've done a bit of searching around and seen problems reported with speeds over 5400rpm and with some drives physically not fitting quite right in the DMS shell. So a list of drives that people have successfully used would be great.

If I search on www.newegg.com I get these 3 matches:

Right, you want a drive not more than 5400rpm.  The original DMS drives were 4200rpm Toshibas (at least the two I had were).  It's only the rubber "bumpers" that might not fit perfectly (but they will fit), as they were tailored for the stock drives.  Any 2.5 inch ATA drive will fit in the DMS shell.

I'd suggest getting a 160GB drive, since they cost only 5 to 10 bucks more than the 80GB drives.
