Keg works without Phat and Royallinux
« on: March 21, 2005, 04:37:04 pm »
I erased Phat and Royallin.ux from my Keg and was successful at performing a firmware update and it played fine as well.  I'm guessing that these files are for the Red boxes.  I'm just wondering if they are still used or are just leftover stuff.

If you had the 4 files, I believe both phat and royallin.ux are included in the firmware files

Well, phat actually appears to be a tool only, not a part of the OS...

The non-signed BMW version of the software doesn't have phatd but does have phat in the daemonfiles zip.  And there is no file Linux at all, just Royallin.ux.  It seems the older version is Royallin.ux and phat, while the new version uses Linux and phatd.

Yes, Royallin.ux is the old v1.0 kernel for the "red" boxes...
