Well, it seems that the connector is/was not the problem.
I did some "research", the ide controller inside the phatbox seems to be very limited.
It seems that he only understands ATA-5, which is fine (ATA-5 = UDMA100), but he can not communicate with ATA-4 or lower drives.
I've checked
- my failing hdds (both ATA-4)
- my failing cf-ide adapter (even worse ATA-0, which is unlogic as the transfer rate are way to fast for that)
Correct me if my assumption is wrong.
My personal conclusion is to use the new 120gb harddrive and to lookout for a proper cf-ide adapter.
