Hack Problems Patch Failed.
« on: August 10, 2008, 12:46:31 pm »
Hi, everyone
Tried to hack my original dms 10gb, placed it in the music keg kenwood KHD-710, and begins to play music! Nothing else.
Maybe you can see in the log what is going wrong.
Both the 10gb and the 40bg discs are working fine so far. So the box is not hacked yet.
I also have a Phatbox that is just working fine. Also not hacked yet.
Appriciate any solution, Marc

Are the discs still working okay?  Ran into a problem hacking a box myself this weekend....

Also, which version of the tools are you using?

Hi VortechS

Yes the discs are in working order, and I used your dms tools 2.12.
Can I run the hack wizard again from the beginning?

Yes (crossover here from your PM).

Just re-run the hack wizard.  You can use the reset button on one of the screens to reset the hack to start from the beginning  (I think it's the verification of patch success screen)

I,ve already done that, but before I did that I have run a full dms repair on the disc because mm says not initialized and won,t recognize in my box.
So after the hack my box is recognized and is beginning to play music in my car instead of the hack procedure.
Thus it means that I've ruin my change of hacking my box?
Still have the backups in phathack mediamanager....

If you repaired the DMS, the hack is lost and it needs re-applying.

If you switch to the first playlist, first track... the hack signature should play, then you should get the voice announcement and then finally the hack will run.  The hack, contrary to people's expectations, only takes a fraction of a second to run.  However, as soon as it has run, it should tell you 'you box is now unlocked'.

From there, if you have any other music, then it should continue playing.

After this, you need to put the DMS back in the cradle re-run the hack wizard which will check for the presence of a log file and tell you if you have successfully run the hack.  The first two screens of this process look exactly like the hack process... but the 3rd screen is the important one.  What does it say on there?

Should I do anything specific before I run the hack again? Or just reset the hack procedure and start all over? My worry is that I repaired the dms with full option so the important 1024mb is lost or not? Is the disc still original otherwise you cannot hack the box.

If you used the tools to repair the DMS, the first 1024 bytes is preserved and untouched.  There's another post lying around that explains what that option does, and it doesn't involve re-partitioning so your disk is safe.

So I can safely do the hack procedure again put it in the box and see whats happening?
If I put the dms in the box should I just put the dms in the box and turn on my hu?
Or must I reset the hu with the dms in the box?

Just re-run the hack procedure again, and stick it in the box as normal.
When you switch to the box with the HU you should find that the DMS takes a few seconds 'loading' while it resets its positional data and then runs throught the first playlist, which runs the hack.

You do not need to reset the HU, or remove the cable from the PhatBox if you are using v2.12 of the tools.

THANKS VORTECHS,

It is working fine now, have already create a test disc size 20gb and works just fine.
So I.m very pleased with your kind help. Thank you for that.
Now I have an hacked box with no limitations.
Have a spare disc 40gb original phatnoise, will that work in my hacked box?

Yes, AFAIK the only problematic disks seem to be some 250GB with PhatNoise MM, and with USB 1.1 cradles

Sorry AFAIK = As far as I know.

You can install the SSA/VIOT options, and AAC plugin while creating a new DMS yes choosing the firmware version you already have on the box.

Thanks VortechS...

Gladly want to come back to PhatHack, if I have problems or questions in the future, or to sniff around, and for software updates.
Thanks for the good support,
