Neither drive works in Phatbox after hack - help
« on: June 29, 2006, 08:51:25 pm »
Ran the boot cd - followed the instructions on the image heavy thread to the letter.
Placed original hacked cartridge in the phatbox - got the message "your phatbox is unlocked" - swapped drives and copied data to new cartridge - put it in the phatbox - no disk shown immediately on head unit.
Put original disc back in - put into phatbox - no disk shown on head unit.

Phatbox shows steady red led and constantly flashing green.

Was running latest VW firmware. have tried reloading firmware on original drive - same error.
Tried deleting forceupdate from PHTSYS - same error.
Tried loading kenwood keg firmware same error.

Have I screwed the whole thing or am I able to buy a new dms cartridge and try again?

the hack didn't complete.  you'll need the original dms drive and do the ramdisk.sig corrupt trick.. (search for it I've typed it a hundred times already) to make it work.  the patch should run again when the drive boots correctly and then the new DMS should go to working as well.

Thanks judb,

I had found something about corrupting the ramdisk.sig file but didn't see the bit about repeating the patch.

Will try again tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Corrupted ramdisk.sig
Reapplied Patch
Left in Phatbox with green led flashing
Patch complete - both drives now working in Phatbox.

Thanks Judb, fix worked exactly as described.

Cheers.
