Newbie and just the beginning
« on: January 12, 2007, 06:38:37 pm »
Hi,

Was wondering if there was a summary of quick start post on how to replace DMS drive with 60gb one.

I will keep looking but any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, this is a  pretty good place to start...

http://forum.phathack.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1122424315

but read it through a few times before you try anything.  Then ask more questions.  Also, when using the search facility on these forums, make sure that you set the "this post was made in the last..." parameter to some period much longer than the default of "week".  Lots of this stuff was very well covered in discussions over a year ago now.

Good luck!

A couple of key points that are not explicitly covered in the main hack instructions (which should be updated):

1. If your firmware is not up to date, better to do that prior to running the hack.  Basic instructions for updating the firmware are found in your Phatbox instruction manual.

2. If the hack does not apply itself properly the first time around, the most common solution can be found by searching for "ramdisk.sig."

I see no reason your firmware revision would matter... but the other one is true, I have a patch.sh that should remove that problem but it hasn't be incorporated yet
