Phatbox not powering up and SDS voice control issue
« on: August 10, 2007, 10:41:01 am »
Hi All.
I have a phatbox connected to my B7 A4's RNS-E and have a couple of questions I was wondering if someone could help me with.

1. In the mornings when I start my car, the Phatbox is powered off and will not wake up when I switch my RNS-E on. If I remove the Phatbox and unplug the cable to the head unit then plug it back in again it wakes up and is usable. I have selected the Type T head unit (RNS-E) in the Phatbox settings and have upgraded to Version 7.02 of the firmware. Is there a sleep setting I need to change somewhere?
2. With SDS, I can command the RNS-E using my voice to change the CD in the CD changer. When I ask it to change to CD3 so I can search the Phatbox albums it says "Changing to CD3" and the CD name on the RNS-E display changes to CD3 for a brief second then reverts back to CD1 (Track mode). Using the changer buttons on the RNS-E works fine. Anyone now how to resolve this?

Any help you can provide would be grateful.

Regards

Ian.

Ian,

I can't seem to find much out about your HU in conjunction with the PhatBox.
What I have been able to find out, is that there have been a number of firmware updates for your head unit in general.  I'd recommend you check these out in case they help to resolve any issues controlling the PhatBox.

If after this you still have a problem, you might try changing the RC files on your PhatBox for the level 10 logging ones - which may show something up.  There are others here better suited to checking the logs and finding out what's wrong.

Give us another shout once you've tried the HU firmware updates.
