That indicates that your head unit has lost communication with the Keg.  It could be many things, but the first thing to check is the cable connection at the back of the keg.  Disconnect it and reconnect it, making sure both screws are tightened.  You may also want to be sure that the DMS is inserted properly.

If these steps do not work, you may want to check the whole cable for any damage, and even if possible to check the connection at the back of the head unit.  Beyond that, you may have to open the Keg to check for any loose connections inside.  It could also be the first sign of a hard drive failure.

Hi and thank you for your reply!

Is it possible, taht the DDX 7025 doesn´t work with the keg?
I´ve checked everything 5 times,but it still doesn´t work.

Best regards from Germany

No, that's an older head unit.  It should work fine with the Keg.

However, maybe I have incorrectly assumed that this was working before and suddenly stopped.  Is this actually a new installation?  Has it ever worked?

Hi!

I bought it in used condition and before it worked great with an other Headunit.
At my DDX 7025 not.....!

What happens when you turn on your radio?  Are there any lights on the Keg?

I don't know if the DDX 7025 has a "reset" button, but if it does, try to reset it.  Sometimes Kenwoods need the reset to properly recognize the Keg.  That was my experience anyway with my first Kenwood install, and I think the manual even specified this.

If it still won't work, it may be that your Keg has an older version of the firmware and was never updated.  It might have worked with an older radio, but needs to be updated to work with yours.

You can check this on the DMS at your computer.  Load the Phatnoise software, and then under tools, check the firmware options.  It will tell you which version of the firmware is loaded on the DMS.  If it shows any version less than 13.01, it probably means the firmware on the Keg is also old.

Hi!

It´s already updated on 13.01 Firmware.
When i connect the box to the Headunit,it shows only "Aux/ext" on the Display.
The LED´s on the keg start to flash first slow, then very fast.

I already made an reset on the Headunit, but its always the same.

Have you loaded some music onto the DMS?  Load some more, and before you save/eject, make sure you first check the option under tools to write the "old" database format to the DMS.  If you use a later version of PMM by default it writes in a different database format, and that won't work on the 710.  At least, it won't work on mine.

Also, check on the phtsys partition and if the files forceupdate or forcesettings are present, delete them.

I'm running out of ideas!  If it still won't work, hopefully someone else can jump in here with some fresh suggestions.

How can i check th Keg-Player? Only at my Headunit?
Everythink else is ok,i think.

markbowen

Yes, the way to check the Keg is via your head unit.  If nothing else I have suggested so far has worked, we need someone else to jump in.

Stuart?  Sam?  Les?  Anyone?

I already thought about to test the keg on an other Headunit.
Maybe it works??!

On Thursday i will get an other Keg-Player to test the keg/Headunit.

Sorry, we may have misunderstood each other.  It doesn't have to be your head unit, but it has to be a compatible Kenwood radio.  So, if you have another Kenwood or a friend with one, you can check it that way.  You can also try to check with another Keg, or even with another DMS -- as much as you can do to figure out the source of the problem.  Good luck.

Hey,i´ve git news fpr you:

I got an other Keg (20 GB) from an original Phatnoise-System and this works!
Strange thing: It has VW/Audi Firmware on it but works!

The Keg is recognized as "HDD Extern" and when i change it to my 10 GB or 40 GB,it stopps working
(First both LED slowly flashing, then very fast)

??? ??? ???

Then you know it works, but something is up with your disks.  I suggest you download and install the Windows Phathack DMS Tools (http://forum.phathack.com/index.php/topic,1641.0.html).

Using that program, use DMS Tools mode to repair just the phtsys partition.  If that still does not work, do a full repair, having in mind this will erase any music you have on the DMS.  In either case, be sure to load the proper firmware from the list (Kenwood 13.01), and check the option to install the non-hacked firmware, and NOT to check "reflash box with firmware."

Let us know what happens!
