Newbie w/ software question, DMS load process

I bought a used Audi / VW system and have installed it in my wife's 2001 A6 wagon.  There were two songs on the device already so i know the system works.

I obtained a CD that is titled "PhatNoise Media Manager mobile digital media software."  I loaded on the desktop (vista) and get pop-ups for a variety of issues.  I also loaded on my laptop (XP) and it launches without all the warnings....

My problem is loading from the PC to the DMS.  As soon as I plug the DMS into the cradel in either system (Vista or XP) it immediately starts downloading data files at a rapid clip.  I do not see any way to sync the system or direct the sync to a spcific set of files.  There is no way to stop the download except to unplug the device.
