WOOHOO - 80gig baby!
« on: August 19, 2005, 01:45:01 pm »
Got my VW PB last week and knew I needed more than 20gig.
So I purchaced an 80gig from newegg for $95 shipped and got it last night.

Following the wiki instructions for "Script to run firmware patch" I now have 80 gig to strech out in.

There were a few things that didn't go like in the instructions.  There was no bootload.log untill I created the file first and the script failed to copy the flacplay* back to the original locations.  I looked at the patch.sh to see what things were doing and found where it stopped.

I got over 60gig of music, most in m4a.

Now if I buy the upgraded pmm with the aac support I'll be able to play these files right?

Thanks for the great info and forum!

So If I send you my 60 giger and 20 bucks you can get it to work in a VW/Audi Phatbox? I'm having no luck with my 20gig Audi Drive...

I got one better for you, have him email you a dd backup of the first 1 meg of his DMS. it should be in the backup folder on the original DMS drive under phtsys..

the use the windows dd to restore that data and follow the phatnoise reformat / repartition steps to fix that new dms you have.

Excellent suggestion judb.

I just heard the "welcome to phatnoise..." and the first few bars of Hells Bells coming from my WD 60gig drive.

Many thanks to you & davekra

email me if you want the 20gig that audi shipped.
