Put Fujitsu drive in formerly Toshiba DMS?

Has anyone tried a Fujitsu drive like this one in a DMS cartridge that originally had a Toshiba drive?

It is supposed to be extra shock resistant.

The original 10G Toshiba drive in one of my DMS carts is very noisy and has a lot of bad sectors on it.

Or would I be better off using this Toshiba one?

Drive cost is a bigger issue for me than space. I am looking for the best value for my money.

if you use the method we've posted you can use any drive of any size.

Thank you for the reply. I know I can use any capacity notebook drive. I am just looking for the best value drive that is easiest to install, and I probably won't be springing for the 100 or 120 gb drives because they cost more overall, and more per gigabyte.

I know if I buy the Toshiba it should fit without modifying the DMS shock mounts, since the DMS originally came with a Toshiba drive. I just wondered if anyone had tried a Fujitsu drive.

That is not a very good assumption.. drive demensions and shapes (what the rubber connects to) can change with new models of drives from the same company so I would go with whatever is cheapest / best performance for the money.

Worst case you have to cut on the rubber mounts inside the DMS to get the new drive to fit..

That sounds like a good deal, I just went to a store and grabbed a WD 80 scorpio and paid 140

I ended up getting a Toshiba MK8026GAX-N 80gig drive from geeks.com (formerly CompGeeks.com). It cost me $95.99, shipped.

To reproduce that drive deal is not easy, you have to find the drive on their green light special and then  find a free shipping promotion code from one of their affiliates. I did this by doing a google search on "geeks.com coupon code" and then buying the drive when it was on a green light special. Normally, newegg has a better price.

It fit in the DMS cartridge without modifying the shock mounts, as I expected.
